Merry Christmas and all that. As the year limps its way to a close and trepidatiously peeks its nose over the ledge, I’m reflecting on my ‘Top Fives’ for 2011. Here we go…

Top Five Books

Luckily I added every book I read this year to GoodReads or else I’d never remember. Actually, this is harder than I thought. I’m a slow reader and as such only read 24 books this year, 13 of which were all part of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time trilogy. That doesn’t leave a lot of room for anything else. I’ll give it a shot anyway.

  1. The Dragon Reborn (book 3, Wheel of Time), Robert Jordan
  2. The Great Hunt (book 2, Wheel of Time), Robert Jordan
  3. Towers of Midnight (book 13, Wheel of Time), Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson
  4. The Girl Who Played with Fire (book 2, Millennium Trilogy), Stieg Larsson
  5. The Whites of their Eyes: The Tea Party’s Revolution and the Battle Over American History, Jill Lenore

Top Five Movies

There needs to be some sort of user account on IMDB that lets you record what movies you’ve seen. Maybe there is? Hmm, there’s a rating service but I’m not game.

  1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, part two
  2. Sunset Boulevard
  3. Red Dog
  4. Paul
  5. Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Top Five Live Performances

This one is tricky as I saw a lot this year but here are some of the really good ones.

  1. Dolly Parton
  2. Alan Davies Standup
  3. Manganiyar Seduction
  4. The Be(a)st of Taylor Mac
  5. Donka: A Letter to Chekhov

Top Five Hot Models

What’s Christmas without some gorgeous men?

  1. Zeb Ringle
  2. Daniel Rumfelt
  3. Didier Cohen
  4. Edilson Nascimento
  5. Maurice Salib

Well, those are my top five of some things of 2011. What about yours?
