The long wait for the conclusion to the Bonds of Blood trilogy is finally over! Binding Blood was released today across all ebook platforms (so there’s no excuse not to sink your teeth into it right away). And if you’re new to the whole saga, Beckoning Blood (book 1) and Burning Blood (book 2) are both on sale now so get on it.
Binding Blood wraps up the whole story of the d’Arjou twins, Olivier and Thierry, and their family drama and hopefully answers all those questions you might have had, including the big one: does Olivier get a happy ending?
I’m not going to lie. Writing this book was hard going. How do you give such a depraved (yet fun) character like Olivier any love at all? With a lot of blood, sweat and tears, that’s how. And not just from the characters’ but from me as well.
I started writing this book in 2017 and it took a few rewrites to get it to how it should be. There was a whole other story line running through there, packed full of action with Carn, Hame, Alex and Thierry, that – although exciting – detracted from the story that had to be told, namely Olivier’s grand finale and the conclusion to the battle with Xadrak.
(If you’re interested, I’ll be sharing a deleted scene from this other story line at a later date as something extra for you to enjoy.)
I hope I’ve wrestled it all into something that you enjoy and that you come away feeling satisfied with how it all went. After living with these characters for so long, it was a daunting task to do them all justice, especially with Olivier who remains my favourite out of the lot, despite his insanity. What I really loved about writing this series was that it was a lot darker than many of the books I was seeing around at the time and Olivier was a great vehicle to do that through. But I’d like to know what you think of him.
Do you think he deserved what he got?
If you haven’t already bought your copy, head here to get it from your favourite ebook retailer.
And I’d love it if you could leave me a review wherever you bought it from and on Goodreads as reviews really do help new readers find me.
Monsters don’t get to be heroes…
Betrayed by his brother and imprisoned in his sister’s dungeon, Olivier d’Arjou isn’t about to let a few chains get in his way. A vampire for six hundred years and a plague on his family for longer, he has no reason to hold back from wiping out the last of his family members and anyone who gets in his way. But first, he’ll need to break free.
When Oberon North, witch and survivor of one of Olivier’s most heinous crimes, comes seeking vengeance, it should be child’s play to bend the witch to his will. But Oberon comes with more power and resilience than Olivier expects and forces him to confront truths he’d rather avoid.
But Olivier’s inner conflict must take a backseat when he learns of his sister Aurelia’s plan to save the world from the demon Xadrak. A battle generations in the making, to succeed requires the ultimate sacrifice from both Olivier and his brother Thierry – and the last chance Olivier has to reclaim his humanity and a future he never thought possible.
Happy reading!
