2012 has begun. I spent it by the ocean with a great group of people, eating lots of food, drinking lots of good alcohol and bidding farewell to the year that was. It was a perfect start to the year. This time is always a good opportunity to set goals to give meaning to the 12 months ahead. So, in the spirit of betterment and personal growth, here are my writing resolutions for 2012.

1. Sell The Beckoning Blood by the end of 2012. While I don’t have power over the actual buying of the book, I can revise my synopsis and make changes to the story based on feedback I’m hoping to get. I’ll then submit (if it’s not sold first). The deadline for submission is March.

2. Finish my current work-in-progress, including first, second and third draft, by July 2012. This will require me to write a minimum of 500 words a day. A good goal in itself.

3. Plot characters and story arcs for a new series by October and start the first book in November.

4. Attend the 2012 Romance Writers of Australia Conference in the Gold Coast in August. (Requires saving a lot of money. Fingers crossed I can do this. Anyone want to send me some dosh?)

5. Read 26 books (a mix of fiction and non-fiction) in 2012.

6. Blog once a fortnight minimum (target every second Friday).

That’s about it I think.

What are your goals for 2012?
