Halloween is just around the corner. While on one side this time of year is filled with fun and chocolate, it’s also a time when our worst fears are brought to the forefront of our imaginations. With that in mind, here are eight Halloween related fears to set your spine tingling.

Gravestone in a cemetery1. Automatonophobia

Who’s frightened of Chuckie or ventriloquist’s dolls? Then this is the fear for you. Automatonophobia is the fear of ventriloquist’s dummies, animatronic creatures, wax statues and other representation of a sentient being.

2. Bogyphobia

Just like it sounds, this one is the fear of the boogeyman. Have you checked underneath your bed?

3. Brontophobia

If a streak of lightning and a crash of thunder fill your heart with terror, then I’m afraid you’ve got brontophobia, the fear of thunder and lightning. Also known as ceraunophobia or keraunophobia.

4. Coimetrophobia

Halloween isn’t the best night to be visited the final resting place of the dead. And if you’ve got coimetrophobia, also known as a fear of cemeteries, you won’t mind giving them a miss.

5. Coulrophobia

Perhaps one of the most terrifying things on the planet, it’s no surprise that there’s a name for the fear of clowns. Who’s seen It?

6. Demonophobia or Daemonophobia

You can probably guess what this one is.

7. Elurophobia (or Ailurophobia)

It’s a wise idea to avoid crossing paths with a black cat on Halloween, but if you’re frightened of even the cutest little kitten, then Elurophobia, a fear of cats, has got you in its grasp.

8. Ephebiphobia

Ephebiphobia is the fear of teenagers. I don’t know about you but one of the scariest things on Halloween night are groups of teenagers roaming the streets, armed with toilet paper and eggs.
